Ordination of Mr. Johnny Lawrence to Deaconate

On the Feast of St. Gregory the Great, March 12, 2024,  Mr. Johnny Lawrence, an ordinand of the Diocese of the Holy Cross (DHC, in the Anglican Catholic Church [ACC]), was, with the permission and blessing of his Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Paul C. Hewett, ordained to the Diaconate by the Rt. Rev. Chandler H. Jones, Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Province of America (APA), in Holy Apostles Church, Pewaukee, Wisconsin, in the Anglican Church in America, (ACA), Diocese of the Missouri Valley.

The preacher for the Ordination was the Very Rev. Zachary Braddock, Dean of the Cathedral Church of the Epiphany, Columbia, SC (DHC). Mr. Lawrence was the Deacon of the Mass.  A fellow seminarian, Mr. Jacob Hootman of the Diocese of Fort Worth, served as the Sub-deacon. 

Dcn. Lawrence is completing his studies for the M.Div. degree at Nashotah House Seminary, just west of Milwaukee, and will serve in the Diocese of the Holy Cross in the ACC. The message of unity which the amalgamation of acronyms sent was not lost on Dcn. Lawrence.  An ACC deacon was ordained by an APA bishop in an ACA Church founded by a Province of Christ the King (PCK) priest, possibly making Dcn. Lawrence the first G-1 deacon!
